I'm a short hair kind of girl. But I had "longer" hair when I nabbed my husband. And he likes long hair on women. Sometimes I wonder if he feels like I played bait and switch on him.
Of course I'm not worried enough about it to grow it out. In fact, I've learned a little nugget of information that might give some long-haired women pause.
One of the things rapists look for when choosing their victims is long hair. Especially pony tails or braids. The reason? It's something easy to grab onto that they can use to pull their victims into their vehicle. (This is in cases where the victim doesn't know the attacker.)
After I learned this tidbit of information I quizzed my husband. "Studies show that rapists almost never select victims with short hair. Why do you think that is?"
"Is it because they look like guys?" he responded.
Wrong answer! (He has mentioned that my hair sometimes reminds him of guy 'dos. Frankly, he's not really up on style. My hair is NOT a guy cut.)
The one consolation from the exchange? Hey, at least I know my hubby doesn't think like a rapist. (I knew that all along.)

I am visiting my sister in Oregon who had a baby two months ago. While here we have discussed her blog that she has begun to post because lots of her friends were asking about hers. Anyway, she went on to explain that all her friends, most of which are young mothers, have blogs and comment on each others blogs all the time. I then told her about the two people whom I know have blogs, you and a young mother friend I met from my neighborhood in Layton. I took her to your blogspot to show it off saying how fun it is on the occasion I get time to look at it. She noticed you did not have anyone make a comment on your blogspot article and told me to make a comment. So this is my comment. In contemplation of why you don't have many people comment I have one hypothesis. It is not because it is not intertaining or educational (remember the tampon blog), I blieve it is because most of the people I assume you associate with are beyond the young mother stage and are not into blogging because it was before their generation and most simply like me just don't have time. I am trying to cut back on my socializing not encouraging it by getting sucked into keeping up on everyone's blogs. What do you think? In my younger days when I had too much time on my hand I could definately get into it but not any more. Maybe when my kids move out of our house? Anyway, I do love you even though I don't commnet. Your husband is hilarious. Plantboy would have said something just like that. I had short hair for years and began growing it out when we moved to Utah a few years back. I was sick of the maintenance haircuts even though the combing was a piece of cake, between babies and going back to work (I was going to have to get up early every day to do my hair anyway). Besides, it was time for a change. I also went darker at the same time.
Now though, with the baby, a humid Oregon climate (I straighten), and three a.m. papers which necessitates a ponytail nearly every day, I am re-thinking. The problem is, that now hubby has seen long hair on me, he REALLY likes it. And, it must be admitted, so do I when it is combed.
I think what will keep me in long locks for a while is just how dang long it took me to get to this point. I'm not ready to give up yet. Yet.
Jen,
I think you comment on my blog's lack of comments is right on. OUr generation -- dinosaur gals -- aren't the blogging type. So a big THANK YOU for leaving a comment!
